In April 1986, Nancy Criswell opened Accents Beads Shop in Olney, MD -- the first full service bead store in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The store occupied a 250 square foot room on the second floor of an historic building, The Olney House. With the increased popularity of beading since that time, twenty years and four moves later, Accents Bead Shop, now renamed Accents Beads, has significantly grown in size, now occupying a 9000 square foot facility with a showroom of about 5000 square feet in the White Flint area of Rockville, MD, and now is the largest bead store in the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area. Nancy Criswells original objective was to create a bead store where people could enjoy themselves and have a great shopping experience while being exposed to quality merchandise, superb selection, excellent customer service and reasonable pricing.
