David M. Lantz and his wife, LuAnne, became interested in the traditions and heritage of baskets more than a decade ago. Living in a beautiful and historic area of New Hampshire, home of one of the oldest family owned farms in the nation where many of these style baskets were used daily in years past, David and LuAnne began honoring the history, craftsmanship and beauty around them by making basket jewelry. David, a second generation jeweler, began creating charms of traditional baskets used in the everyday lives of the generations before his. Market baskets, berry baskets, gathering baskets, button baskets... all were hand-crafted by artisans out of necessity and convenience. Recognizing the beauty and innovation of these artisans, David began creating the beautiful jewelry you will see here. The Lantzes create their basket charms with the assistance of David Ernster, another talented goldsmith, who carves wax baskets, makes a mold, and then creates the charms from these molds. The charm is cast in 14K or 18K white or yellow gold or platinum and is then signed and dated by David Lantz as a personal seal of quality, design and origin. The charms are engraved to personalize them for you free of charge. The charms can also be accented by diamonds, sapphires or any precious gem.
